48.40 Lakh MSMEs Registered in last three years: 4.86 Lakh from Gujarat and 97998 from Jharkhand

Ahmedabad, July 2018: The Union Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises launched UdyogAadhaar portal for registration of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in September 2015. It has witnessed registration of 48,39,549MSMEs in last three years. Of these, 4,86,080 MSMEs were from Gujarat and 97,998 MSMEs were from Jharkhand. Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Shri Giriraj Singh provided the information in Rajya Sabha on July 18, 2018 replying to a question raised by Member of Parliament Shri Parimal Nathwani.

According to the statement of the minister, prior to launch of UAM, 7.88 lakh MSMEs filed Entrepreneur Memorandum during 2013-14 and 2014-15. He also stated that 24,248 MSME registrations have been cancelled in the country on UAM portal, of which 25 and 927 MSME registrations were from Gujarat and Jharkhand respectively.

Shri Parimal Nathwani wanted to know about number of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) registered with the department in last five years, the benefits of MSME registration and efforts made by Government to increase MSME registrations.

Providing details of the benefits of MSME registration, the minister said that registered MSMEs can avail the benefits of various schemes of Ministry of MSMEs like Credit Guarantee Scheme for MSEs, Credit Linked Capital Subsidies Scheme, Lean Manufacturing Competitiveness Scheme for MSMEs, Micro and Small Enterprises Cluster Development Programme (MSE-CDP), A Scheme for Promoting Innovation, Rural Industry & Entrepreneurship (ASPIRE), Revamped Scheme of Fund for Regeneration of Traditional Industries (SFURTI), Design Clinic Scheme for MSMEs, financial support to MSMEs in ZED certification scheme, etc. and the schemes of other Ministries.

Moreover, MSMEs registered on UAM portal can get benefits and facilities under the Public Procurement Policy such as free of cost tender set, exemption from the payment of earnest money,purchase preference to MSEs, 358 product items reserved for exclusive procurement from MSEs and exemption in respect of prior experience – prior turnover criteria.

He also said thatrecognizing the importance of MSME sector, a recent ordinance has empowered the Government to provide the MSME special dispensation under the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code (IBC).To increase the registration at UAM portal, the State Governments and Industry Associations have been urged through communication, interactive session over video conferencing etc, he said. The minister also stated that helpdesks for enrolment of UAM have been provided in various state level conclaves.
